Nike has a Fake Shoes Problem

Amazon has surpassed Walmart in total revenues and sales. Retail outlets are progressively losing business to online marketplaces. As the struggles of established brands such as Aeropostale and Abercrombie & Fitch show, adapting to the evolving trends of the modern consumer can be challenging for any brand.

While Nike continues to outperform Adidas, it is facing a digital sales challenge of a different kind. Across major European and North American markets, a number of Nike customers are suffering losses due to the sales of fake Nike Shoes. Nike has tried to play down this problem by requesting customers to buy shoes only from Nike verified outlets, however, this is not a long term solution as the preferences of customers continue to move in the direction of shopping online. If the problem continues unabated, Nike faces a future where it might lose a huge portion of its revenue due to a lack of customer trust in the brands online presence.

The Nike Free RN running shoe has 233 online reviews on Amazon.com to this date. This product has an average star rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars.
